Frequently asked questions
Answers about solar, costs, payback period and maintenance
Is solar worth it? What's the payback period?
Homes with bills of 3,000 THB/month or more and daytime consumption typically pay back within 5–7 years, while the system lasts 25+ years.
What permits are needed?
Grid-connection approval from MEA/PEA and, in some cases, an ERC filing — Eggcode Solar handles all of it.
String vs micro inverter — what's the difference?
String uses one inverter and costs less; micro inverters sit under each panel, tolerate shade and allow per-panel monitoring — best for multi-orientation roofs.
Which roof types can be used?
Metal sheet, corrugated tile, concrete tile and flat concrete roofs all work; an engineer assesses the structure first.
What is covered by warranty?
Workmanship 10 years, inverter up to 5 years, panels up to 25 years and panel performance up to 30 years, per brand terms.
How often should panels be cleaned?
Once or twice a year, more often near busy roads or heavy bird activity. See Eggcode Care packages on the packages page.
